10 Practical Mother’s Day Gifts That She Will Love
Mother’s Day is just around the corner, making it the perfect time to start thinking about gifts. While we love and appreciate our moms every day, this special occasion allows us to spoil them. Since Mother’s Day is about all moms, not just our own, we should make an extra effort to ensure our moms feel that this day is truly all about them. But we need to think outside of the box a bit.
Stores, commercials, bakeries, etc all make it very easy to shop for Mother’ Day- typically something pink with “I ♥ Mom” all over it and big flower arrangements. While thats acknowledging the holiday, it often lacks personal thought and effort for your mom. Does she need another engraved “We love you, mom” piece of jewelry? Or more customized coffee mugs of the grandchildren?
This post focuses on practical Mother’s Day gifts. Giving her less stuff and more thoughtful gestures that she will actually want and put to good use.
Mother’s Day Meal
Celebrate Mother’s Day by treating her to a special meal—whether it’s breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner—without her having to lift a finger! You can cook up something delicious, take care of the cleanup, order from her favorite restaurant, or even make some fun reservations. This practical Mother’s Day gift will show her just how much she is appreciated.
Cleaning Service…what else is the perfect practical Mother’s Day gift?
If you’re a mom yourself, you know how helpful this can be. Not having to worry about cleaning on a day dedicated to you, hiring a cleaning service that deep cleans the areas you dislike tackling, is a present that will be appreciated long after Mother’s Day.
Spa Treatments
I don’t think there is anything my mom loves more than being pampered. If your mom is the same, research the top spas in your area and book her favorite type of spa treatment. Bonus points if the spa offers treatments that can be done at home!
Night out on the town
Make the most of the nightlife your town has to offer. Consider booking a nice dinner and getting tickets to a show. This is one of my favorite ways to express appreciation for my mom, as it gives her a chance to enjoy a night out and take a break from her other responsibilities.
Subscription to a streaming service
“Netflix and chill” is everyone’s favorite word combo. After a long day of taking care of everyone else, she can relax in bed, stream her favorite shows, and start the beloved process of binge-watching. This will be the gift that keeps on giving.
A weekend getaway
I mean, I’d love this gift! A trip with my mom or with my daughters. For the weekend. Just us. Room service. No cooking. No cleaning. No work. That’s not only a practical Mother’s Day gift she will love, but everyone included will have wonderful memories of what I’m sure would be a much-needed break.
Quality time
Sometimes, spending quality time together is the ideal and most practical Mother’s Day gift. Everyone is busy with their own lives, but moms often just want to have their children together for an enjoyable day. Whatever that looks like for her, consider this gift as something she will truly love and appreciate—spending time with her grown, always-busy children.
Quiet time
For new moms, single moms, tired moms etc. who could use a little time to catch up on sleep or just have some time to themselves to recharge. Offering to babysit or helping out in any way can give them the much-needed break from their daily responsibilities
Gift basket
I love creating gift baskets for different occasions. For Mother’s Day, consider putting together a collection of things your mom loves or has been wanting. From my experience, the simpler the items, the more she tends to enjoy the gift. Here are some ideas:
– Her favorite snacks
-A new book from her to-be-read (TBR) list
– Essentials for her favorite drink
– Key ingredients for her favorite meal or baked good (this might seem unusual, but it’s very practical!)
– A favorite scented candle, hand soap, hand lotion, or perfume
– A gift card to her favorite store, restaurant, or café
– Bath essentials
– A framed picture of her with the kids or grandkids
Feel free to mix and match these items to create a thoughtful and personalized gift
Somethings handmade
Handmade gifts are really something special! Whether it’s a cozy crocheted item, a beautifully painted piece, a heartfelt handwritten letter, or a delightful finger-painted card from kids (I just love those, especially the Mother’s Day questionnaires they create at school), these gifts hold a unique charm. They’re some of the most treasured things anyone could ever receive!
